A world of difference

Earn a prestigious University of Washington diploma in a small-campus environment where you won’t get lost in the crowd.  A UW degree links you for a lifetime with the benefits of the University of Washington’s 150-year international reputation for exemplary teaching and research. Classes are rigorous, but students feel a strong connection to faculty at UW Tacoma, where small class sizes offer the opportunity for individual attention.

Along with a vibrant campus life, you will enjoy the chance to get involved in research, community projects, mentoring programs, study away and internships. Our campus is located in the middle of a flourishing city, surrounded by museums, cafes, stores, coffee shops and transportation – and by the incredible beauty of the Puget Sound and the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

With a population of more than 200,000, Tacoma is a friendly city, and has all the advantages and culture of a bigger city but in a manageable size. The city has an active theatre and arts community, a zoo, music, bookstores, restaurants and parks. A free light rail train takes passengers from the university to the center of downtown or to the Tacoma Dome for train and bus connections to Seattle and other nearby cities.

Here at UW Tacoma, we believe a student body rich in diversity — culturally, socially and economically — significantly contributes to a dynamic and energetic learning community for all students. We look forward to having you join our community at the University of Washington Tacoma.

Am I an international student?

If you need a student visa (F-1 or J-1) to study in the U.S., you are considered an international student for admission to UW Tacoma.
