Challenge coins are an established military tradition, and challenge coins have been issued among military-connected communities on all three UW campuses for a long time. This coin shows the Snoqualmie Power House, an iconic campus building, on one side, and the seals of the five forces of the U.S. military — Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard — on the other.

UW Tacoma Best College for Veterans in NW, says Military Times

UW Tacoma is the number one college for veterans in the Northwest, according to a 2023 ranking by Military Times.

The 2023 “Best for Vets” college ranking by Military Times is out, and UW Tacoma has continued its climb toward the top.

This year, the campus is ranked number 30 in the nation on a list of 325 ranked schools, and number 1 in the Northwest. UW Tacoma was ranked 49 out of 311 schools in 2022 and 133 out of 366 schools in 2021.

Military Times’ ranking methodology encompasses completion, retention, persistence and graduation rates, average GPA, the range of military-specific resources provided and the level of financial assistance offered.

Military Times, published by Sightline Media Group, is a comprehensive media outlet covering the U.S. defense sector. It was founded in 1940 as Army Times, and today publishes Army Times, Air Force Times, Marine Corps Times and Navy Times.
