Financial Literacy Scholarship Opportunity!
Are you ready to take control of your financial destiny? We are thrilled to announce an empowering scholarship opportunity designed to promote Financial Confidence and provide you with the knowledge and skills to thrive financially.
This scholarship is dedicated to fostering financial literacy among the next generation of leaders. It is your chance to gain valuable insights and resources that will set you on the path to financial success.

Number of Scholarships: Five (5)

How to Apply:
- Complete the application below. Must fill in all fields.
- Must Attend 1 CFW Event (Be specific: Date, Event Name, Speaker)
- Video topic and reason why you chose this topic
- Create a 1-minute educational/informational video on building Financial Confidence on a personal finance topic of your choice. (If you need assistance, please contact us at financialwellness@uw.edu)
- Ensure both the application and videos are submitted by the application deadline.
SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION PROCESS
You are eligible for the scholarship if:
- Current UW Tacoma Students or Community College students planning to transfer to UW Tacoma to start Winter Quarter 2024 (Scholarship will be applied towards Winter Quarter 2024 tuition)
- Attend at least 1 Financial Confidence workshop/Speaker series organized by the Center for Financial Wellness
- Preference will be given to first-generation, need-based students. But all students are encouraged to apply
You may not be eligible if:
- You are utilizing tuition-exempt benefits
- Your employer provides tuition reimbursement
Selection Process:
- Our scholarship committee will review applications and select the most dedicated and enthusiastic candidate who demonstrates a clear understanding of financial literacy concepts and their importance. The scholarship recipients will be notified no later than December 20, 2023.
- Scholarship recipients will be required to meet with the selection committee, scholarship sponsor, and/or others.
- Scholarship recipients will release their right to the video to the Center for Financial Wellness for publication on the website and other social media platforms.

Financial Literacy Scholarship Application
2022-2023 FINANCIAL LITERACY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
The Milgard School of Business would like to congratulate the first Financial Literacy Scholarship recipients!
Out of 72 total applicants (35% Milgard, 65% non-Milgard students), the Financial Literacy Scholarship Review Committee found these students’ compelling essays and interest in Financial Wellness helped them stand out and rise to the top.
We sincerely thank all the Financial Literacy Scholarship Review Committee members (Dominic Crisostomo, Kira King, Nikki Tabafunda, Gabe Minthorn, and Jaime Core) for their efforts in reviewing all the essays and participating in the selection process.
