The University of Washington Tacoma is launching a new Direct Admit pathway to the Global Honors Program for the 2026–27 academic year, expanding access to interdisciplinary, globally focused education.
For the first time, first-year and transfer applicants who meet GPA criteria and apply for Autumn Quarter are invited to apply directly to Global Honors as part of their UW Tacoma application. This pathway creates an early entry point for students interested in a globally focused, interdisciplinary experience, whether they are starting or continuing their college journey. Students selected through this process are also considered for a Global Scholar Merit Award, recognizing academic achievement and a commitment to global learning.
One goal of the Direct Admit pathway is to help new students build a strong sense of belonging to the Global Honors program and UW Tacoma. From the moment they arrive, students will be part of an academic and social community where they can form meaningful connections with peers, faculty, and staff, and the broader campus community. This support is especially valuable for first-year students adjusting to college life and for transfer students joining a new campus.
This launch reflects UW Tacoma’s commitment to access, community, and high-impact education, ensuring students begin their university experience connected, supported, and better prepared to succeed in a globally interconnected world.
