Bamford Fellowship in Global Engagement (BFGE)
Purpose: To promote undergraduate research in global topics. The Bamford Fellowship in Global Engagement supports faculty-student teams in their year-long empirical research and presentation at the Global Engagement Conference. Sponsored by the Bamford Foundation.
Who is Eligible to Apply? Students enrolled in the Global Honors Program and Minor in Global Engagement.
Award Amount: Up to $5000 per three-member team comprising of two students and one faculty advisor:
- Students: $1000 for research plus additional $1000 for travel.
- Faculty: $1000 for advising student teams
The Application Deadline for 2023-24 has been extended to: April 14, 2023
William W. Philip Endowed Scholarship
Purpose: To promote undergraduate research in global topics and community leadership.
Eligibility: Students in the Milgard School of Business and the School of Engineering and Technology enrolled in the Global Honors Program.
Award amount: $1000 quarterly
Application Deadline/Winter 2023: December 1, 2022
Application Deadline/Spring 2023: February 24, 2023
Global Innovation and Design Award (GID AWARD)
Purpose: To promote undergraduate community engagement and skills in design thinking. Supports participation in community design thinking projects undertake by the GID Lab and presentation at the annual Global Engagement Conference.
Eligibility: University of Washington Tacoma full-time undergraduate students. Familiarity with human-centered design/design thinking is useful, but not required (training sessions are available to awardees).
Award amount: $500 quarterly

IIGE Study Abroad Awards
IIGE Study Abroad Awards promote undergraduate research in global topics through field experience overseas.
Who is Eligible to Apply? UW Tacoma students enrolled in a study abroad program or internship through UW Tacoma Study Abroad, UW Seattle Study Abroad, or UW Bothell Study Abroad. Programs must be at least three weeks in length and should be a minimum of 5 credits.
Award: $1000 (number of awards vary depending on funding)
Application Deadline: Extended to March 15, 2023
IIGE Conference and Travel Award
Purpose: To promote undergraduate research and enhance the profile of the IIGE regionally and nationally. Supports up to 10 students per year in their attendance at honors, innovation and design, and global engagement conferences. Grants will typically cover travel and registration.
Eligibility: Students enrolled in the Global Honors Program, the Minor in Global Engagement, and the Minor in Innovation and Design.
Award amount: Up to $750
