Welcome to teaching in UW Tacoma’s Institute for Innovation and Global Engagement (IIGE)! The Global Honors Program is the academic anchor to all IIGE programs and offers:
- Global Honors distinction
- Minor in Global Engagement
- Minor in Innovation and Design
- Microcredentials in:
a. Global Leadership
b. Global Citizenship
c. NextGen Civic Leader Corps
All programs promote the vision of the IIGE: a globally engaged campus. All programs enhance the IIGE mission: to create the conditions for ethical problem solving for an interdependent world through interdisciplinary research, inclusive innovation, and community engagement. All programs demonstrate one or more of the following IIGE signatures: the global framework, solutions orientation, inclusive innovation, and community engagement. Please read on for a thorough description of items of importance.
Systems Access

| UW NetID | This is your UW email created through UW-IT once your appointment is official on Workday. For non UWT faculty, you will be guided through this process by IIGE staff. Please email iige@uw.edu if you have any questions. |
| NETWORK ACCOUNT | This will be your log-in for on-campus computers. This is separate from your UW NetID, but you may choose to use the same password. User: __ @tacoma.uw.edu Next login must be on a campus PC computer (Not a MAC or Apple). User will be requested to change password on next login. After your first log-in, you should be able to only type your NetID into the User box rather than the having to type “@tacoma.uw.edu” each time. Please be sure to enable UW Office 365 (Outlook) through your MyUW by following the steps below: 1. Log on to MyUW. |
| HUSKY CARD | As a UWT Employee, you will need a Husky ID Card. The Husky Card is the official identification card for members of the UW Tacoma community. It provides access to services and opportunities, including campus libraries, and building access. Picking up your Husky Card: In the form you can choose to either pick up your Husky Card from the Registrar’s office or have it mailed to your address. *Once you have obtained your Husky Card, please notify me (your name and email) so that I can make sure it has the proper access for you (this will allow you into certain campus buildings if they are locked). | MyUW | MyUW is a landing page for faculty where you can access things like your teaching schedule, Canvas, UW Library, class email lists, UW Employee info, and much more. See this link for more info: https://www.tacoma.uw.edu/it/myuw-portal |
| Canvas | You will be enrolled in the IIGE Faculty Canvas and will also receive access to your class Canvas. You will be able to upload your syllabus, add teaching modules and assignments, and email your students through this portal. For guidance on course content and program overview, you will work closely with Dr. Divya McMillin (divya@uw.edu). For structural support (appointment letter, technology access, for example), you will work closely with Sarah Newell (sjnewell@uw.edu). |
