Together in Pride
Throughout the months of June and July, we celebrate Pride and honor the LGBTQIA+ community — comprising of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and other individuals whose identities are part of this vibrant spectrum.
At UW Tacoma, we believe in creating thriving, prosperous futures for everyone. Together, we shape that future one moment at a time by honoring and respecting the rights, histories, and identities of our community members in the present.
Honoring roots
Since many of you are away for the summer, here are some historical, archival, and academic resources you can read and watch at your own speed. These materials explore the origins of Pride and highlight the leadership of Black and Brown trans women and queer individuals. As we learn from their stories, we honor their legacies and remember that offering support and care for our neighbors is a powerful expression of pride.
Community partnerships
Our University is proud to have strong relationships with local organizations, such as Oasis Youth Center, Rainbow Center, and Tacoma Community House. Their programs provide essential services to vulnerable populations, including young people experiencing homelessness. These organizations are key partners in the work to create a more thriving South Sound region.
Join us at Tacoma Pride
