Striving for Course Consistency and Clarity
The Office of Digital Learning has developed a basic course template to help instructors quickly create courses that are easy for students to navigate. The template, which organizes course content within modules, is designed to accommodate a range of disciplines and teaching approaches. The design of the template was guided by two priorities: 1) to ease and simplify course creation, 2) to help students find the information they need.
Our goal is for the template to empower instructors: to help them confident that they are creating a course that students will find easy to use.
If this is your first time importing the template, consider importing to an empty course or to your sandbox so that you can familiarize yourself with the template without affecting any existing course content.
How to import a Commons Resource Template into your course.
Departmental Templates for all UWT, Milgard, Nursing (BSN), SET and Education (EdD)
We have created specific templates that were co-created with department faculty and leadership. These templates contain information and policies specific to the department and also include student resources targeted to each program.
*NOTE - You will want to import/download these templates into an empty course shell before you "select content" to import from a previous quarter course.
Follow the instructions above for importing a template from commons. When searching Commons, use the following template titles for whichever template you want to import into your course.

Modules you can import into your Canvas Course
The following modules are available for you to download into your Canvas course. They are intended to give students information on academic support services, getting started with technology, etc. Follow the instructions linked at that top of this page to learn how to search and import these into your course.
