UWT’s NextGen Civic Leader Corps cultivates growth in the public servants of tomorrow

A longtime supporter of UW Tacoma and a leader in the South Sound business community, James A. Milgard, Sr. was one of the namesakes of the Milgard School of Business.

The Indigenous Speaker Series, created by Professor Michelle Montgomery in 2015, helps Indigenous communities tell their stories.

The award honors his efforts on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic and involvement with the UW Department of Surgery, UW Transplant Advisory Council, American Society of Transplantation, demonstrating leadership, research, and advocacy to improve health outcomes across the state.

Professor Julia Aguirre, in the School of Education has been honored by the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE).

Steven Golob, a Ph.D. student in Computer Science, has been recognized for his research on using private data to train A.I. models.

"Super lawyer” Craig Sims and educator Bonita Lee will keynote the event and the Dream Awards will recognize work to promote equity, justice and civil rights.
