Below is a sample program plan* for the Master of Nursing students. Click on the document to expand the program plan and see further details.
Please note that the MN program requires students to complete 47 credits in residence at UW Tacoma. Individual program plans are issued by the academic advisor after orientation.
Although the MN program is designed for the working professional, please be prepared for the time commitment in and outside of classes that will be required. Here are some important things you should know to prepare for the program:
- MN classes will always be on Tuesday afternoons and evenings.
- The first class of each quarter will meet IN PERSON and on the UW Tacoma campus. All following classes will meet in Zoom at their scheduled time. Be sure to check your schedule in MyUW and Canvas ahead of time for meeting dates, locations, and Zoom links.
- Attendance is expected (whether in person or in Zoom) and participation is graded.
- Plan to spend about six hours a week per course (12 hours/week total) for studying and doing homework in addition to in-class hours.
- In the last two quarters, students are scheduled to take the T NURS 503 & 505 Advanced Practicum courses and are required to complete nine hours per week of practicum work (90 total quarter hours). Be sure you are prepared for these additional hours of practicum work for these two quarters and adjust your schedule accordingly.
