Earn your Bachelor's and Master's degrees in 5 Years
The Master of Science in Computer Science & Systems (MSCSS) 4+1 Program is designed for current undergraduate Computer Science students who want to begin graduate coursework during their senior year and accelerate their path to a master's degree.
Through the 4+1 pathway, eligible students can take up to 2 graduate-level courses while completing their bachelor's degree. These courses count towards both the bachelor’s and MSCSS degrees and are billed at the undergraduate tuition rate, creating significant tuition savings while reducing the time needed to complete the master's program.
Students who participate in the 4+1 Program can complete the MSCSS degree in as little as 3 quarters after earning their bachelor's degree, compared to the traditional 4-quarter completion timeline.

*This is an estimation based on the 2026-2027, 5-credit UWT tuition rates. This range applies for both residential and non-residential tuition rates.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a current undergraduate UW Tacoma Computer Science student
- Have senior standing at the time of application
- Meet MSCSS admission requirements

How To Apply
There is no separate application for the MSCSS 4+1 Program.
Simply complete the standard MSCSS application and indicate your interest in the 4+1 pathway when prompted. During the application process, you will be asked whether you would like to be considered for the 4+1 Program. Select "Yes" and submit your application.
