Graduate Programs
The Communication major at UWT offers a unique education where we value critical perspectives and focus many of our courses on questions of power, equity, and social justice. The faculty members within the major each bring a different scholarly expertise ranging from global media to communication law and policy to television and film studies. A Communication degree from UWT can prepare students for graduate work (Master’s or Doctoral programs) in areas such as:

Although the University of Washington’s Tacoma campus does not offer graduate programs in this field, UW Seattle offers multiple graduate degrees and graduate certificate programs that allow students to continue their study of communication and media. These programs include:
- Master of Arts or Doctor of Philosophy in Communication
- Master of Communication (professional degree with multiple track options)
- Master of Arts or Doctor of Philosophy in Cinema and Media Studies
