SAM Divisional Funds Request

Main Content

SIAS Divisional Funds are provided by the Dean's office, when available, to support a culture of faculty, staff, and student belonging and success in programs coordinated by the Division.  This is aligned with the SIAS vision of "building a dynamic learning community" and mission of preparing students "to contribute to a complex multicultural society".

Our values and guiding principles include:

• Academic Distinction and Student Success

• Interdisciplinary Teaching and Scholarship

• Engaged Inquiry

• Diversity and Inclusiveness

• Community and Social Responsibility

Requests for funds should demonstrate how they will promote the vision and mission of SIAS, the strategic goals of the Division, and prioritize student success. Requests can include initiatives that will strengthen connections to local communities and support alumni relations.

Priority in 2021-22 will be given to proposals that address the Climate Survey Implementation plans.

The Division Chair oversees review of applications and disbursement of funds and is responsible for delivering an annual report to the Dean's Office.  Chairs may also use these funds to develop division-wide initiatives, and should enter these initiatives in this form to enable assessment and recognition.

Please note:

1. The use of funds must conform to all applicable UW policies and Washington State laws and policies

2. There will be two/three application deadlines

3. Funds may not be used for UW faculty honoraria

4. Funds may not be used for food and drink
