All University of Washington students pay fees in addition to their tuition. These fees may be paid once, when a student enters UW Tacoma, or paid every quarter. New Student Enrollment & Orientation Fee
$170 | One-Time Fee
The New Student Enrollment and Orientation Fee (NSEOF) is a $170 fee paid one time by students intending to attend UW Tacoma. It funds programs and services that help new students transition successfully to the university. The Department of Student Transitions allocates this money.
The International Student Programming Fee (ISPE) is currently $60 per quarter. The fee is paid by international students who are enrolled at UW Tacoma. It funds programs and services that serve the unique needs of international students. International Student and Scholar Services in the Office of Global Affairs allocates this money.
The Services and Activities Fee (SAF) is currently $164 per quarter. Students enrolled part time pay a prorated amount. The chancellor appoints a Services and Activities Fee Committee (SAFC) each year to decide how the money is spent. The SAF is authorized by the state legislature and established by the SAFC to fund student activities and programs.
The Student Technology Fee (STF) is currently $42 per quarter. Students enrolled part time pay a prorated amount. The Associate Students of UW Tacoma (ASUWT) appoints the Student Technology Fee Committee (STFC) each year to decide how the money is spent. The STF is authorized by the state legislature and established by the SAFC to fund technology to be used by the students of UW Tacoma.
The University YMCA Student Center Fee (UWYF) is currently $180 per quarter. The fee is authorized by the state legislature and was established by the SAFC. It pays for UW Tacoma students to use YMCA facilities and programs. It also pays for debt from constructing the University YMCA Student Center.
The U-PASS Fee is currently $45 per quarter ($20 per quarter for students residing in Thurston County). Loaded right onto the Husky Card, the U-PASS provides students with a variety of low-cost transportation options — from unlimited rides on buses, commuter train service and light rail, to vanpooling and discounted impromptu carpooling.
