New Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Success

I am pleased to share the news that Dr. Heather Dillon, Professor and founding Chair of Mechanical Engineering, will transition into the inaugural role of Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Success at the beginning of Spring quarter 2026. 

Dr. Dillon has worked at UW Tacoma since 2020, helping to build the Mechanical Engineering program, serving as Associate Dean in the School of Engineering and Technology, and chairing the Research Advisory Council.  She has leveraged external funding in support of undergraduate research mentoring in STEM to support a campus-wide undergraduate research mentoring program.  Heather has built a reputation as a powerful and effective voice for faculty and students, and we look forward to her success in this new role. 

I want to thank all of you who participated in the search and contributed your time and insight. In particular, I want to thank the search committee members and their chair, Associate Dean of the UW Tacoma Library Kaijsa Calkins, for their considerable and successful efforts.

I also want to thank again Dr. Cheryl Greengrove, who will transition out of her current role at the end of Winter quarter 2026 and return to her full-time faculty role in SIAS. I, with the campus and the university, am so grateful for her leadership and tireless commitment to growing UW Tacoma.
