Glossary of Terms
Words and language matter. They convey cultural values. What does DEI stand for? How does language reflect our understanding of the world and how we see ourselves? Why are some old terms outdated and offensive and others are still considered acceptable? How can we use language to be more inclusive and respectful of others and their histories, identities and heritage?

LGBTQIA+ Resources and Pronouns
Our local non-profit partners offer resources and safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, two-spirit, and allied community members, through education, advocacy and celebration.
Honoring a person’s pronouns is an appropriate and polite way to refer to one another. Pronouns do not necessarily indicate someone’s perceived gender identity, as gender is personal, complex, and specific to the individual. Using personal pronouns is a way to respect others and create an inclusive space just as using a person's name can be a way to respect them.
