Event Details - April 28th, 2023
The 2023 University of Washington Tacoma Sustainability Film Festival is set to take place in the Carwein Auditorium (Key 102) at the UWT Campus on April 28th, 2023. The event is open to the community with limited seating available.
Submissions are open to any local (Western Washington Region) creators. Local High Schools, Middle Schools, and University levels, as well as open category participants (For non-profits, companies, government agencies, and professional creators), are invited to join.
Finalists will be chosen by April 21st and contacted regarding their submission.

- 1 entry per person or per group is permitted. Additional entries will overwrite previous ones (most recent taken).
- Submissions must be made electronically with a Vimeo or YouTube Link in the linked webform below by 11:59 pm Monday, April 17th,2023. Creators must also have a copy in the MP4 format if selected as a finalist.
- Submissions must be between 1.5 minutes and 22 minutes in length
- Submissions must tackle a topic within the scope of Sustainability. How you do so is up to you!
- The three spheres in our definition of sustainability are Social Progress, Environmental Stewardship, and Economic Sustainability.
- Social Progress: Diversity, Human Rights, Equal Opportunity, Standard of Living, Health, Identity, Meaning.
- Environmental Stewardship: Natural Resource Protection, Pollution Prevention, Biodiversity, Waste Management.
- Economic Stability: Consumption Patterns, Distribution of Wealth, Efficient Production, Research and Development.
- The three spheres in our definition of sustainability are Social Progress, Environmental Stewardship, and Economic Sustainability.
- Submissions will be judged on their ability to address the topic(s) of choice by being informative, engaging, inspiring, and creative, and how they accomplish a meaningful connection to their viewer(s).
- Submissions will be judged the week of April 17th, 2023, and finalists will be notified of the showcase of their short film that Friday the 21st.
- Public viewing of finalist short films will take place in the Carwein Auditorium (Key 102), UW Tacoma April 28th (4:30pm)
