The UW Tacoma Black Opportunity fund was created as part of a tri-campus initiative in Summer 2020. It is designed to provide financial support to design, launch, implement, and revise programs and services designed to foster Black student success. Examples of the types of programs and services eligible for BOF funding includes, but is not limited to:

- Community partnerships including associations with Black led organizations in the Puget Sound Region
- Student research grants to study issues impacting Black communities in the Puget Sound Region
All UW Tacoma community members - students, staff, and faculty - are eligible to apply for BOF funds. Applications will be made available at the beginning of each quarter. Awarded applications will be distributed in a following quarter.
