Transforming the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem: Fanny Castro
As a special events manager at CoMotion, Fanny Castro spearheads strategic event planning, while her brainchild, Untroubled.Shop, empowers small-batch creators. Her 2023 Best in Business nomination is a testament to her commitment.
Ever since her graduation from the Milgard School of Business, Fanny Castro's journey has taken her to new heights. Pursuing her passion for entrepreneurship, she continued a Master's Degree from The University of Washington Foster School of Business, where she delved deeper into the world of entrepreneurship. Describing her experience as invaluable, she contributes her academic journey as crucial to shaping her as a person today.
"For any future students considering a similar path, my advice is simple: don't wait for everything to be perfect before starting your own business. Embrace the learning process and grow along the way." - Fanny Castro

Currently working as the Special Events Manager at CoMotion- the UW community startup entrepreneur incubator- she describes her work as "exhilarating." Fanny spearheads "the strategic planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of over 50 events each year. From casual happy hours to high-profile delegations, I have the privilege of orchestrating diverse and exciting occasions."
Building Up Others:
The inception of Untroubled.Shop stemmed from her observation of how small-batch handmade creators were being taken advantage of by larger platforms like Etsy and Amazon. Witnessing their struggles ignited a fire within Fanny, determined to provide them with a viable alternative.
"My passion for nurturing the entrepreneur ecosystem further fueled my desire to be a part of this transformative journey."
Receiving a nomination for the 2023 Best in Business feature may have caught her by surprise, but the recognition was graciously felt. "Believing wholeheartedly in our mission, I am committed to propelling Untroubled.Shop forward, creating a space where creators can focus on their craft without the burden of managing the business side. It is my fervent hope that we can empower these talented individuals and provide them with the support they truly deserve."
Since graduation, the doors that were opened paved the way for Fanny's professional growth and have been instrumental in shaping her journey. In closing, she has one note and hope to share from her experience, "The creation of Untroubled.Shop was driven by a deep desire to champion small-batch handmade creators and offer them an alternative to existing platforms. The nomination for the 2023 Best in Business feature has been an unexpected honor, one that inspires me to push our mission forward. Together, let's build a thriving community where creators can focus on their passion and make a lasting impact."
