Announcing Dr. Amanda Walker as our new Vice Chancellor for Advancement
We are delighted to announce that, after a national search, Dr. Amanda Walker has been selected as UW Tacoma’s new Vice Chancellor for Advancement. Her first day will be Dec. 1, 2023.
Amanda will serve as UW Tacoma’s principal fundraiser and provide strategic fundraising advice. She will oversee the development, alumni relations, and marketing and communications teams. In keeping with UW’s integrated advancement model, she will report to both of us.
Amanda’s role and the team she leads are essential elements in our strategy to gain recognition as one of the nation’s leading regional university campuses, especially as UW begins planning for our next fundraising campaign.
She joins UW from Purchase College in the State University of New York system, where she has served as vice president of institutional advancement and executive director of the Purchase College Foundation and Charitable Entities.
Amanda has two decades of experience leading fundraising, comprehensive campaigns, communications and constituent engagement in higher education institutions and non-profit organizations. For more than 12 of those years, she has held advancement leadership roles in higher education, including more than a decade at The Evergreen State College.
Although she currently lives in New York, Amanda still owns a home close to the UW Tacoma campus and is excited to move back to her home state of Washington.
We were impressed by her strong reputation as an exceptional leader and fundraiser. This expertise, combined with her deep ties to the Tacoma community, will help us continue and expand the profound, positive impact UW Tacoma has on the South Sound community.
Amanda’s creativity and deep enthusiasm for higher education are inspiring and will resonate with our donors as she grows the already-existing strong culture of philanthropy and gratitude among UW Tacoma’s communities.
Please join us in welcoming Amanda!
