Summer Office Hours

In order to create flexibility and balance for UW Tacoma staff while maintaining a high degree of access for our students and community, we have developed new policies for office hours during summer and over the winter holidays for 2025. 

These kinds of reduced office hours during summer quarter and winter break are common practice on university campuses across the country and are a more environmentally sustainable practice that can save energy and therefore scarce resources.

From June 16 – Sept. 1, 2025, offices must be open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday – Thursday and 9 a.m. – noon on Fridays. Campus offices have the option to be closed to the public after noon on Fridays, allowing additional opportunities for flexible schedules and vacation time off. More details and guidelines can be found on our HR website.

Please note that full-time employees are still expected to work a full 40-hour week. You may work remotely, work additional hours on other days or take vacation leave on Friday afternoons. Please talk with your supervisor to determine what makes the most sense for your position.
