UW Tacoma Research and Finance are working together to deepen pre-award support, transform post-award compliance, and prepare for the launch of Workday Financial in July 2023. While we are in the process of aligning resources to support this work, we are excited to announce planned support expansions supported by staffing changes in our office:
Grant and budget training opportunities for faculty and staff
Workday salary costing allocation support for unit supervisors and PIs
Regular and ad hoc reporting, including monthly budget to actuals analysis and forecasts
Increased support for Effort Reporting Certification and error resolution
Grant closeout coordination and support for PIs
Centralized research subject payment tax reporting support

Vacant, Fiscal Specialist 2: The FS2 collaborates closely with the Office of Research, administrators, and PIs to support and facilitate most grant compliance activities.
Mike Russell, Assistant Director Finance: Mike supports the FS2 and manages training and reporting activities in addition to coordinating Grant systems access.
Jan Rutledge, Associate Vice Chancellor Finance: Jan continues to oversee Finance’s support of grants compliance across campus and is responsible for proposal approvals, policy development, and strategic planning.
