Two All-Campus Planned Power Outages - March 27 & June 17
As part of the UW Tacoma Power Grid Resilience Program, we’re continuing efforts to strengthen the reliability and capacity of the campus power system.
Our next step is to install a new main switch. To complete this safely, we must conduct two planned, all-campus power outages to transition from temporary fixes to a permanent, stabilized solution.
Planned outage dates in all campus buildings (except Court 17):
- Friday, March 27 (Spring Break) — starting 6:00 a.m., lasting approximately 12 hours
- Wednesday, June 17 (Summer Break) — starting 6:00 a.m., lasting approximately 12 hours
During each outage, most building systems will be unavailable, including lighting, elevators, HVAC, card access, and some network and telecom services. For safety reasons, campus buildings will be closed during the outage window, except for essential workers designated by their supervisors.
Employees
- Staff should work remotely if possible. If remote work is not feasible, please discuss alternative arrangements with your supervisor. Questions? Please contact UW Tacoma Human Resources at uwthr@uw.edu or 253-692-4701.
We will send additional reminders via email the week of each outage and two text reminders through UW Alert on both outage days.
Thank you to our Facilities, Campus Safety, front-line teams, and our contract partners for their hard work in keeping our campus safe and running smoothly.
Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership as we care for our campus together.
