Services and Activities Fee (SAF)

The Services and Activities Fee (SAF) is authorized by Washington's state legislature. It funds student activities and programs. UW Tacoma's SAF is currently $158 per quarter. Students who are enrolled part-time pay a prorated amount. The SAF Committee (SAFC) recommends the amount of the SAF. The Board of Regents has final authority to approve the fee.

In 2017-18, Tacoma's SAF is paying for the following programs and services: 

  • Department of Student Engagement
  • Student Health Services
  • University Y and Dawg House - One-time Purchases
  • Center for Equity and Inclusion (formerly the Diversity Resource Center)
  • Student Publications (The Ledger & Tahoma West)
  • Conference and Event Fund
    • Students can apply for Conference and Event Funding (CEF) throughout the year.
