Services for spring quarter 2022 are via Zoom.
Our office(MAT 354) will be closed and we will be offering virtual services only on May 13, 20, and 27.
In accordance with UW Covid-19 Face Covering Policy (March 28, 2022) face masks are required to be worn in "psychiatry and mental health counseling clinical areas". This includes UWT Psychological and Wellness Services (PAWS).
Students who are testing with Disability Resources for Students (DRS) are also required to wear masks as they enter and pass through PAWS on their way to the testing carrel area. We have masks available if you do not have one.
More detailed information about this policy can be found at

Psychological & Wellness Services (PAWS) provides confidential mental health counseling and related services for currently enrolled UW Tacoma students at no additional costs. We also provide consultation to faculty, staff, and university student families.
It is common for students to sometimes feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities of academics, work, family, and other relationships. Psychological and Wellness Services is here to help students cope with stresses and personal issues that can interfere with their ability to perform in school.
We provide intentional, problem-focused mental health counseling, aimed at building better skills and exploring alternative ways of coping. Psychological & Wellness Services provides confidential crisis, individual, and group counseling; educational workshops and classroom presentations; consultation for students, faculty, staff, and student families; and referrals (when appropriate) to community mental health and social service providers and other UWT student services and resources.
We are unable to provide couples counseling at this time.
No-Show and Cancellation Policy
You benefit the most from counseling when you keep all of your scheduled appointments. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call 253-692-4522 or email uwtpaws@uw.edu, at least 24 hours prior to your appointment to cancel. It will allow us to schedule an appointment for another student.
The student demand for counseling services is high. Students who no-show to their appointment or have a late cancellation (less than 24 hours) twice in one quarter, may be dropped from their providers’ caseloads. They are welcome to seek services with us again, but will have to go back through our Drop In process. Additionally, there may be a waitlist for our services and students may not be seen straight away.
