Endo Receives Award for Mentoring Excellence
Colleagues at the American Educational Research Association honored Dr. Rachel Endo, Dean of the UW Tacoma School of Education.
Dr. K. Rachel Endo, Dean of the School of Education at UW Tacoma, was recognized for her mentorship at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) 2019 conference in Toronto, Canada. The Oustanding Mentoring Award was presented by the Association's Division G, Social Contexts of Education. The award recognizes a scholar “who has made distinguished contributions in the mentoring of undergraduate and Ph.D. students, as well as junior scholars, contributing to the development of a new generation of scholars who focus on social contexts of education.”
A group of nominators wrote: “A former community-college student and first-generation college student, Dr. Endo is now a nationally recognized scholar of immigrant and refugee education who has tirelessly advocated for scholars at all stages of their careers. She is someone who has gone above and beyond to mentor scholars from varied backgrounds.”
AERA, an international research society in education, strives to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and to promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good.
