This information is intended for students who have an active graduation application on file for the current quarter. A current quarter graduation application will prevent registration for future quarters. Contact your academic advisor if you need to move your graduation to a future quarter.
Before the end of the quarter:
Run your degree audit report (DARs) to ensure All Requirements are In Progress. If any requirement is appearing unmet and you have questions, reach out to your academic advisor.
Check your unofficial transcript for any errors or pending grades and work with faculty to ensure final grades are posted by the end of the quarter.
Ensure your permanent address is up to date (this is the default mailing address for diplomas). To update your mailing addresses visit your MyUW Student Personal Services.
Set up your UW email to forward to a personal email and preserve your work. You will lose access to accounts once you are graduated. Review the Data Retention Guide for Students. (The UWNet ID will remain active)
After the quarter:
Your diploma name no longer has to match your UW record name. Instead, you can have your diploma issued in the name of your choice by entering your information into the Diploma Name and Address form. You may also use the form to provide a desired mailing address. Be advised that if you have not entered information in the form by the time our office places the diploma order for your quarter of graduation (usually 2 weeks from the end of quarter), the information from your student record will be used.
If you will be completing final requirements at another institution, please be sure to immediately request your official transcript be sent to UW Tacoma Admissions once the quarter is completed.
Check your unofficial transcript again for any errors or pending grades and work with faculty to resolve.
Ensure you have no transcript holds that will prevent the mailing of your degree or ability to order transcripts (holds will not impact granting of the degree).
Additional post graduation information:
It may take up to 3 weeks following the last day of the quarter for your record to reflect the degree as earned.
Ensure your degree information and grades are posted and accurate before purchasing an official transcript.
Diplomas are mailed 3-4 months following the last day of your graduating quarter. You will receive an email when these have been mailed.
*NEW* All students will also have the ability to request a complimentary CeDiploma.
Most diplomas will not contain the major title, simply reflecting either “Bachelor of Arts” or “Bachelors of Science.”
