On December 9, 2019, the University of Washington Tacoma Chancellor, Mark Pagano, and Rear Adm. Jack Vogt, commander of the 13th Coast Guard District, formally signed a memorandum of understanding between the service and the institution.
This agreement is a great opportunity for those looking to achieve a higher education while also serving in the Coast Guard as an officer. The candidates can apply for the College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative (CSPI) through a recruiter, whose information we provide on this page.
The University of Washington Tacoma is a prominent Minority Serving Institution, and the Coast Guard is committed to recruiting a more diverse officer workforce. This program will specifically target candidates at these types of institutions.
