The Veterans Navigator is a position supported by a partnership between UW Tacoma and the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure that transitioning veterans have all the tools and support they need to be successful. Our Navigator provides our student veterans with referrals to on and off-campus services, explains campus culture to transitioning veteran students, offers social support, bolsters engagement opportunities, and serves as a peer mentor. Our Veterans Navigator is a current or recently graduated student who understands the issues facing transitioning service members with knowledge of the services available within our community and direct access to resources from the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs.
Scholarships for Military Veterans & Families
The Office of Student Fellowships & Awards provides strong support for students interested in applying for scholarships and fellowships with specific opportunities, such as the Tillman Scholarship for active-duty service members, veterans, and their families.
Cybercorps®: Scholarship for Service (SFS) funded by the National Science Foundation (https://www.tacoma.uw.edu/set/admission/cybercorpsschol). The UW Tacoma SFS program started in 2019. Several veteran students received this prestigious scholarship. We hope to see more applications from our Veteran students.
