You're Invited: UW Tacoma Campus Safety Walk on Nov. 5
At UW Tacoma, we are committed to creating a campus environment that is safe and supportive for everyone who learns, works, and visits here.
As part of that commitment, we invite you to our upcoming Campus Safety Walk on Wednesday, November 5. The walk will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Commerce Flagpole, located near the grand staircase at the center of campus. Together, we will inspect campus, share tips for staying safe after dark, and answer questions about safety resources and procedures.
This initiative first began in 2023, when student leaders from the Associated Students of the University of Washington Tacoma (ASUWT) connected with UW Tacoma leadership to collaborate on enhancing the safety and accessibility of our campus. As a result, they completed a walk around the campus, and that initial experience led to helpful improvements, such as better lighting along frequently traveled pathways.
When daylight saving time ends on November 2, our mornings and evenings will grow darker and more challenging to navigate. The Campus Safety Walk provides a valuable opportunity to become better acquainted with routes across campus, identify potential hazards, and ensure you are informed and prepared.
Each of us has a role to play in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and I encourage you to join us as we walk and talk about safety.
