UW Tacoma’s Office of Government Relations leads efforts to foster trust, drive advocacy, and advance our mission through impactful engagement with local, state, federal, and tribal governments and community stakeholders to help advance the interests of the campus.
Our Work
Reporting directly to the Office of the Chancellor, the Director of Government Relations actively engages with all levels of government through strategic advocacy that aligns with our mission and advances our organizational priorities.
State Relations
State support is essential to UW Tacoma's operations and our pursuit of providing an excellent and accessible education. We engage with legislators and state agencies in Olympia to promote access, affordability, and institutional priorities.
Federal Relations
In collaboration with the UW’s Office of Federal Relations, we advocate at the federal level for policies that support student financial aid, research funding, and national education priorities.
Courtney Acoff
Interim Director of Government Relations
Courtney Acoff works with the local, state and federal governments to promote the mission and vision of the University of Washington Tacoma. Courtney also oversees relations with local military bases and our tribal partners.
