CrisisNow is a program within UW Tacoma’s Student Health Services partner, TimelyCare, that provides dedicated 24/7 phone-based crisis support. American Psychological Association (APA)-trained mental health clinicians answer CrisisNow calls within 30 seconds or less.

How CrisisNow Works

- Student or third-party dials CrisisNow phone number.
- Call is answered in less than 30 seconds, and student is connected to a certified mental health professional (CMHP).
- The CMHP conducts assessment, provides support, and creates a safety plan.
- Notifications sent to Psychological and Wellness Services (PAWS).
- Student is contacted for follow-up support and referral to additional services.

Yes, students can simply call 253-201-1646 at any time to use CrisisNow. To use other TimelyCare services such as MedicalNow or TalkNow, students must first register at http://www.timelycare.com/uwt using UW Single Sign-on (SSO).

Yes, after your call with CrisisNow, you will be contacted for follow-up support and referral to other resources or be redirected to speak with TimelyCare Care Navigators to help you find other resources.
Yes, CrisisNow offers a wide range of language/translation services to those who need it through LanguageLine.
The Crisis Mental Health Professional (CMHP) will stay on the line for as long as you need them/want them to.
Yes, CrisisNow is currently available to only registered UW Tacoma students at this time. However, faculty, staff and other third parties can call the CrisisNow phone number for the student/or on the student's behalf to help get them connected with a mental health professional.
Spouses and other family members can call if they are worried about their UWT student.
UWT students can use CrisisNow at any time of day or night within the United States.
A clinical note is created when a student calls CrisisNow. Certain PAWS staff with appropriate clinical licensure will have access to clinical notes to facilitate wrap around care if needed.
CrisisNow is intended for elevated, more urgent or critical concerns. CrisisNow calls are answered in 30 seconds or less by American Psychological Association (APA)-trained crisis coordinators who provide immediate intake and facilitate a warm connection to a crisis mental health professional. TalkNow provides in-the-moment emotional support and coaching by licensed mental health professionals for less acute concerns. TalkNow requires registration within TimelyCare prior to use, and wait times are typically five minutes or less.
