High School Course Requirements
Complete our high school course requirements, also known as the College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADRs). For a more detailed overview of what can and cannot count towards these requirements, please review our CADRs page.
- English - 4 years
- Math - 3 years
- Algebra
- Geometry
- Algebra II
- Social Sciences - 3 years
- Lab Science - 3 years
- World Language - 2 years
- Fine, Visual or Performing Art - 0.5 years
- Academic Elective - 0.5 years
- Senior Year Math-Based Quantitative Course - 1 year
- Can be Intermediate algebra (or higher), statistics, chemistry, physics or other quantitative courses
Application Process
- Submit the UW Tacoma First-Year Application on the Common App.
- Complete the academic course grid and your senior year projections. There are instructions on the application to help you complete the grid successfully.
- Write your personal statement to be included in your application.
- Complete the activity log in the application.
- Pay the application fee or request a fee waiver to complete the submission of your application.
- Submit official standardized test scores (optional).
- Submit official AP, IB, or CLEP scores (if applicable).
- Have you graduated from high school? You are required to send a final, official transcript at the time of application.
When Should I Submit My Application?
- November 15 - Autumn early action deadline
- January 15 - Autumn quarter priority application deadline
- October 15 - Winter quarter priority application deadline

Tips for Success
- Have your unofficial transcript by your side.
- Write your Personal Statement outside of the application and add it once complete.
- Know your social security number and household family income.
- Application fee ($60) payment takes place at the end of the application - you may also request a fee waiver within the application.
