Vietnam at a Glance: A Week of Cultural and Business Insights
Exploring Hanoi
The tour began on March 22 with lectures by Dr. Jill Purdy and Dr. Gregory Rose, who introduced Vietnam’s business environment and cultural values. On March 23, the group explored Hanoi landmarks such as the Vietnam Military History Museum, the Temple of Literature, and Hoa Lo Prison (Hanoi Hilton). They also enjoyed a peaceful walk around Hoan Kiem Lake and visited Ngoc Son Temple, offering a serene glimpse into Vietnam's spiritual landscape.
Collaboration with Foreign Trade University (FTU)
On March 24, the group was warmly welcomed by the Foreign Trade University (FTU). Students attended an engaging lecture by Ms. Dao Ha on "Vietnam at a Glance," which provided an overview of Vietnam’s economic and cultural landscape. A highlight of the day was a group photo session in traditional Ao Dai, followed by a tour of the historic Thang Long Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From Nature to Business
On March 25, the group traveled to Ninh Binh, where they rowed through Trang An’s scenic caves and explored the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. Back in Hanoi, students took part in a hands-on cooking class to learn about Vietnamese cuisine, especially Hanoi traditional food, and prepare their own lunch. Later, they attended workshops on strategy, operations, and marketing at Stavian Group’s factory and corporate headquarters, offering firsthand insight into modern Vietnamese business practices.
Cultural Insights
On March 27, Dr. Le Thai Phong discussed Vietnamese business practices. The group then visited the Legend Yen Tu Hotel, a luxury property that reflects Vietnam’s Buddhist heritage. They continued to Ha Long, where they learned about the intricate process of pearl cultivation at the Legend Pearl company.
A Memorable Finale
The tour concluded with an unforgettable overnight cruise on Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its breathtaking scenery. Students kayaked through Luon Cave, enjoyed panoramic scenery from Titov Island, and explored the impressive Sung Sot Cave. The journey ended with a heartfelt farewell dinner shared with their hosts from Foreign Trade University.
