What is the OGA Fellows Program?
The Office of Global Affairs is proud to offer UW Tacoma students the opportunity to serve in student leadership positions in our office. Office of Global Affairs Fellows are UW Tacoma students whose mission is to promote global learning opportunities on campus. OGA Fellows help plan, promote, and implement events and assist with international student services, supporting study abroad programs, student fellowship, and award promotion. To successfully carry out these tasks, it is essential to have in-depth and experiential knowledge of study abroad, student fellowship processes, and international student transitions. If you have questions, they have answers!

Title: OGA Fellow (Study Abroad)

Expected Graduation: Spring 2029
Hi everyone! My name is Valeria Yasuda Villena.
I was born and raised in Peru, where I spent all my childhood. I'm currently a second-year Business Administration student. I'm really interested in marketing and creating a safe space for everyone! I love cooking, dancing, traveling, and learning new languages. I want to be able to speak at least five languages someday!
As someone who had to adapt to a new environment, people, and language, I want to make that shift as smooth and comfortable as possible for all students, kind of like that first friend you made, yk. My goal working here is to encourage other students to learn from different cultures, meet people from different backgrounds, and experience the WORLD!

Feel free to reach out with questions, concerns, or even if you just want to say hi.

Expected Graduation: Spring 2029
Hi there! My name is Tam Giang, and I’m a sophomore majoring in Biomedical Sciences.
I was born and raised in Vietnam and came to the United States in 2021. As an international student, I understand how exciting, but also challenging, it can be to adjust to a new culture and environment. Through my own experience, I’ve learned how important it is to have a supportive community where you feel welcomed, connected, and understood.
My journey has inspired me to become an OGA Fellow because I want to walk alongside other international students as they explore their own journeys. I hope to help students feel less alone, build lasting connections, and make the most of their experiences in the U.S.
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, sharing experiences, learning from each other, and having a wonderful year together!!

Title: Senior OGA Fellow (ISSS)

Expected Graduation: Spring 2027
Hello! My name is Prarthana, and I am currently a grad student at UWT. I am studying Nursing education and leadearship. Nursing is so diverse and vast with constant improvement in both practice and research, there is always more to learn. My love for learning and sharing that knowledge made me pursue an education degree.
As an OGA Fellow working specifically with ISSS, helping other students feel mroe integrated with American society and academic culture was important to me as an International student. I wanted students to feel a sense of community and belonging while studying here at UWT. These experiences are so valuable and even life changing, being a small part in their student journey feels very special.
I am excited to be an OGA Fellow and I look forward to meeting and connecting with you all this academic year!

Expected Graduation: Spring 2028
Hello everyone! My name is Eduardo Ortiz Eufracio; I am currently a junior majoring in Education with a focus on Teaching English Language Learners.
I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to study abroad twice: once in Colombia (where this picture was taken) and once in Brazil. Through these experiences, I have visited places I never imagined I would, learned a new language (Portuguese), and gained a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me. Both experiences were truly eye-opening and have shaped the way I see the world!
I joined the Office of Global Affairs because I want to share my experiences and show other students just how transformative studying abroad can be. I hope to inspire other students to take that first step toward exploring new places, embracing different cultures, and discovering something new about themselves along the way.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all! Please know that I'm here to answer your questions, share what I've learned, and help guide you towards the unique and rewarding experience it is to study abroad!
