Academic Advising
Academic advisors in the Department of Science and Mathematics (SAM) provide academic planning support to students majoring in Environmental Science, Environmental Sustainability, Biomedical Sciences and Mathematics. Due to course sequencing and prerequisites, intentional and proactive academic planning is crucial for students in Science and Mathematics. Students should regularly refer to academic planning tools and work closely with their advisors to ensure they are making progress toward graduation.
Currently enrolled students are invited to email advisors and schedule advising appointments as often as needed. Newly admitted students are invited to meet with advisors starting on specific dates each quarter. Prospective students, those not yet admitted to UWT, should reach out to SAM advisors via email, rather than scheduling appointments.
Faculty Advising
In addition to their academic advisor(s), all SAM students are assigned a faculty advisor. Faculty advisors provide mentorship and support related to capstone planning, career exploration, graduate school preparation, networking and more. For more information regarding the role of your faculty advisor compared to the role of your academic advisor please see the How can an advisor help you? section. If you are not sure who your faculty advisor is, email Toni Woodman to ask. If desired, students can request to change faculty advisors.
