Student Affairs Staff Spotlight: Autumn 2025
Anna Schmid
Career Coach / Career Development & Education
Anna Schmid one of our most recent team member, despite being in a temporary role, Anna has jumped in full force working without students to ensure they are career ready post-graduation. She has been instrumental in supporting the Career team and taking on work when asked. She’s presented to students, made classroom visits, and has allowed more students to schedule appointments with Career Development. I know in one specific instance, her mock interview preparation helped an Urban studies student secure an internship with Seattle Dept of Transportation. She has embodied the Student affairs core value of Empowerment by helping students be more confident in their interview skills and speak to their skills and experience in a professional way. She is always ready to give a positive pep talk to her students.
Julie Venezio
FLIGHT Career Coach / Career Development & Education
Our most recent permanent team member, Julie, joined as the FLIGHT Career coach. She successfully recruited a new cohort of 8 FLIGHT students who will get direct career support and other resources. Julie’s students are part of the Champions program. Julie has also greatly helped Career by being another Coach students can meet with. She has also conducted several classroom visits and hosted workshops this quarter. She has also directly helped several students secure on campus jobs and works tirelessly. Her mentorship and guidance greatly supports the Champions students and students at large. Julie highlighted the Student Affair core value of inclusivity by collaborating with students to join her cohort to aid them in their career planning and empower them to thrive. She sought to bring in students that might not feel as connected to campus and its resources. She has also collaborated with other offices to seek out additional resources and support for her students.
Eric Hildorfer
Employer Relations Manager / Career Development & Education
Eric setup and organized the Autumn Career Fair over two days - Oct 15 and 16. We had great student turnout to both days. Employers were excited about our students and what they have to offer as future interns and employees. Thanks to his efforts, we had prepared and enthusiastic students attend. Eric has also helped Career and the SET department by offering special drop in resume hours to further help SET students this Quarter. Eric showcases the Student Affairs core value of empowerment by organizing the career fair for students to make impactful connections and decisions for the future career and learning about companies and job opportunities.
Eduardo Guerrero
Administrative Support Specialist / Housing & Residence Life
Eduardo joined Housing & Residence Life during a significant period of transition, at a time when I was frequently out of the office managing health challenges. Despite these circumstances, he stepped up immediately and has been essential in keeping our office organized, efficient, and student-centered.
Eduardo played a pivotal role in identifying and securing our current custodial vendor, a decision that has directly supported the efficiency of Housing and Residence Life and expanded our ability to serve the UWT’s Residential communities and hopefully grow our Summer programming. His initiative and follow-through on this effort have had a meaningful, lasting impact on our operations.
He has also worked diligently to streamline and strengthen Housing & Residence Life’s billing processes. The student-first systems he helped implement with Tacoma’s fiscal services have improved clarity, responsiveness, and overall service to students.
Eduardo embodies the Student Affairs mission: he removes barriers, prioritizes students as partners, and continually works to strengthen an inclusive, supportive campus environment. His dedication, resourcefulness, and steady professionalism make him highly deserving of this recognition.
