The Campus Event Fund and the Conference and Training Fund provide students with resources to put on homegrown events on campus and pursue professional development opportunities outside of the classroom or campus employment. The Council for Campus Engagement, a committee comprised of UW Tacoma students, meets regularly to discuss and review proposals for these funds.
Both the Conference and Training Fund and the Campus Event Fund are funded by the Services & Activities Fee Committee (SAFC).
Campus Event Fund
The purpose of the Campus Event Fund (CEF) is to provide funding to support activities, events, projects, and/or programs for which the primary audience is UW Tacoma students. Funding requests which appeal to a range of interests are encouraged. Proposals can be submitted by students, faculty and staff members. Any applicant applying for funding is required to create and propose events that are to open to all UW Tacoma Students regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, handicap, sexual orientation, gender identity, or veteran status, including as a Disabled Veteran or Vietnam-era veteran.
Because funding is not guaranteed, it is not recommended for proposers to sign contracts or make purchases prior to receiving a detailed funding decision on your submission. Students who make out-of-pocket purchases are not guaranteed reimbursement.
In order to ensure a successful program, it is strongly encouraged that Campus Event Fund proposals are received four (4) weeks prior to the projected event date.
Conference & Training Fund
The purpose of the Conference and Training Fund (CTF) is to provide funding to send UW Tacoma students to conferences/trainings, bring in trainings/educational sessions to campus, and offer other opportunities to currently enrolled students. A post-conference report is required for submission to the committee within two (2) weeks after the conclusion of the conference/training. Be sure to take photos of your participation to share in your post-conference report!
To be considered for funding, proposals to the Conference and Training Fund must be received at least six (6) weeks in advance of the upcoming conference. Proposals for airfare will need at least eight (8) weeks. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Conor Leary, Director of Student Involvement & Leadership, at cleary2@uw.edu.
*Students enrolled in the following programs are not eligible to receive CTF allocations, as they do no pay the Services and Activity Fee:
- Master of Accounting
- Master of Cybersecurity and Leadership
- MEDEX
Any students traveling internationally must abide by the UW Student International Travel Policy.
*Due to budgetary limitations, the Conference and Training Fund Application has been closed and no more applications will be reviewed at this time. The Council for Campus Engagement has submitted a Special Allocations Request to the Services and Activities Committee for consideration and there may be the potential for more funding awarded. At this time, no decision has been made, so the Conference and Training Fund Application will close. The campus will receive an email if the Conference and Training Fund application will re-open.
If you submitted before the close date, the Council is continuing to review those applications before the close date. They will connect should they fund your application in full, partially or if your application has been denied.
