Welcome Days: How to Participate
Welcome Days offers students a variety of ways to meet new people, learn about UW Tacoma, and get immersed into UW Tacoma and Husky culture. To new Huskies, welcome to UW Tacoma! To returning Huskies, welcome back!
Are you looking to find new friends? Are you more interested in advancing your career preparation? There are many opportunities that will help you achieve your individual goals, allowing you to integrate into our community as you deem fit for yourself. Welcome Days is a roadmap to your success, but the path is yours to create for yourself.
Welcome Days activities are designed around 4 pillars. These categories communicate what a specific activity will provide to you and the experiences you can expect to gain. Many activities will meet the objectives of more than one (and even all 4) of these pillars.

Connect at Welcome Days

Connect at Welcome Days
Merriam Webster Dictionary defines connect as "to become joined" or "to place or establish in relationship." Events within the "Connect" category will allow you to weave meaningful threads between yourself, campus, and the greater Tacoma area community. These events will help you to find and fortify connections with on-campus and off-campus groups and resources, making you a connected part of our UWT community.

Learn at Welcome Days

Learn at Welcome Days
Merriam Webster Dictionary defines learn as "to gain knowledge or understanding of or skill in by study, instruction, or experience." Events within the "Learn" category are intended to enhance your out-of-the-classroom learning. How do I develop study skills? What does the Lushootseed around campus means, and why does it matter that this language is painted here? Join these events to expand your learning and understanding of yourself and the world around you.

Socialize at Welcome Days

Socialize at Welcome Days
Merriam Webster Dictionary defines socialize as "to make social" or "to participate actively in a social group." For us at UW Tacoma, to socialize means to have fun and to play in community with your peers! Events within the "Socialize" category will give you the opportunity to casually interact with your peers and classmates, make some new friends, and to just have some fun!

Succeed at Welcome Days

Socialize at Welcome Days
Merriam Webster Dictionary defines succeed as "to turn out well" or "to attain a desired object or end." Events within the "Succeed" category will empower you on your journey throughout your UW Tacoma experience, giving you the tools you need to achieve your goals! These events will prepare you for the rigor of college academics; enhance your study, writing, and reading abilities; and get you ready for your career.
